A 19th Century family mansion.

Dating back to 1765, Le Chateau Bel Ombre has been a magical venue for its guests, taking them on a journey through the rich heritage of Mauritius. Embark on a voyage through time, within this enchanting former sugar plantation style house, set in typical French Gardens. The perfect place to give a twist of history and culture to your holidays in paradise.

The Château’s famous fine-dining restaurant was honoured for its high gastronomy with the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence 2019. Never resting on its laurels, the Chateau is going beyond the mundane to reinvent sustainable cuisine. With the help of a Michelin Green Star chef, its sophisticated locavore cuisine reimagines gourmet menus, combining farm-to-fork dining with locally sourced quality produce.

The first floor houses an apartment where guests may enjoy “afternoon tea,” a British custom favoured by Mauritians. Birdcages, delicate tea sets, an interior courtyard with flowers and plants give the space a timeless feel.
