How it works

The Awards Procedure

The World Luxury Restaurant Awards are voted for by the public and are awarded to luxury restaurants across a diverse variety of categories, presented on a Global, Continent, Regional, and Country basis, with one restaurant receiving the accolade of Global Restaurant of The Year.

  • Nominations

    Luxury restaurants can self-nominate, be nominated by guests, travel agents or tour operators for consideration in the World Luxury Restaurant Awards, which is made possible by the nomination facility on our website. Constant feedback from guests about their experience at a restaurant allows us to evaluate the respective restaurants to qualify them for participation. The successfully qualifying restaurants are then formally invited (or accepted) to participate and register in the awards initiative. Official participants will automatically be invited to register in the following year’s award season at a preferential rate.

  • Selection Criteria

    Luxury Restaurants are selected for nomination based on the following criteria:-


    interior design to a high standard – the seating area and table decoration should reflect a smart/stylish atmosphere
    good quality food, to the standard of haute cuisine – the chefs must show attention to detail, serving food with excellent presentation
    excellent service reviews – the restaurant should have positive reviews and be well recommended for excellent service

  • Winning Levels

    Participants compete on a Country, Regional, Continent and Global basis. Only properties competing in the same categories compete against each other.


    Continents are as follows:
    North America, South America, Europe, Indian Ocean, Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australia & Oceania


    Regions are as follows:
    North and Central America, Caribbean, Latin America, West & Central Africa, East Africa, Southern Africa, Middle East & North Africa (MENA), Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Northern Europe, Southern Europe, Indian Ocean Islands, Central Asia, East Asia, South East Asia, South West Asia, Southern Asia, Australasia and The South Pacific/Oceania.

  • Registration

  • Voting

    Voting is based on the food experience as a whole, combined with aspects of service excellence, presentation, quality and menu choices. Votes are usually from people that approve and support your establishment. Votes can come from guests, travellers and visitors, website visitors, social media followers, newsletter followers, e-mail correspondents, tour operators, restaurant staff and industry peers. Anyone can vote online during the designated voting season which attracts over 100 000 votes annually.

  • Judging Criteria

    The judging process is totally unbiased as is not undertaken by judges who may be influenced or have certain favourites. Size of the establishment is not taken into consideration during the nomination or voting phases.

  • Winners and the Gala Awards Ceremony

    Winners are determined at the end of the voting season, interim results are then released to the respective restaurants. Participants will be invited to attend the Gala Awards Ceremony, where the official winners are announced, also revealing the category and level of the award achieved.  This event is the year’s highlight, with many new business opportunities forged from the meeting of hospitality affiliates and media partners around the world.

  • World Luxury Restaurant Awards Marketing Material

    A ‘Nominee Marketing Kit’ will be provided to participants upon registration. A ‘Voting Kit’ will be sent at least 6 weeks prior to the voting season, as well as relevant ‘Winner Logo’s’ after the official results have been released.

  • The World Luxury Restaurant Awards Ultimate Guide

    The World Luxury Restaurant Awards Ultimate Guide is an annually compiled digital publication, profiling and showcasing all participating restaurants. Travel agents, tour operators, and guests can use this as a guideline to research, discover, recommend and book luxury dining experiences. Each participant shares in the advantage to feature in this guide.

  • Cost?

    The once-off annual registration fee is £450 per restaurant, this includes three categories. The fee includes extensive global marketing and exposure throughout the year.

    travelers can access and book directly with the restaurant of their choice.


    Marketing Tool Kit & Voting Tool Kit

    We provide the official nominee and winner logos to be used on all  restaurant marketing material. The restaurant participant has the right to use their respective authorized logos at their discretion for years to come.


    Voting tools include a voting button, e-mailer, social media artwork as
    well as instructions in order to launch a successful marketing and voting
    campaign. Each participant also receives a personalized voting page
    during the online voting phase.

    Feature in the Ultimate Restaurant Guide. Each participant shares in this advantage to feature prominently in this digital guide.


    Dedicated Restaurant Liaison

    Each restaurant participant receives an allocated awards consultant who manages the restaurant’s registration, sets up and administrates the restaurant’s digital online profile, communicates all important information, provides the marketing tool kit and general support to ensure a successful journey.
